ALIGNMENT BASED HATHA YOGA
ALIGNMENT BASED HATHA YOGA
Respecting traditional and modern postural understandings
We think that the asana should be adapted to you, and not the other way around. In our asana classes we teach the use of props, for you and your future students in order to get the most out of your practice. We focus on constructing healthy and conscious asanas, which will ground you physically and mentally. We invite you to be present with your breath at all moments.
TRADITION AND MODERN INTEGRATION
We try to integrate the best that each can offer
We have a deep respect for Yoga tradition, and try to reflect it in our teachings. At the same time there is modern innovations regarding postural understanding, our present life and context, woman's role in yoga and other aspects, that update this wonderful ever growing life philosphy.
The Guru is inside of YOU
We don't follow a certain lineage or master, but are inspired by many Yoga teachers, who have contributed to us being able to practice today. Krishnamacharya an example of an advanced Hatha Yogi, Iyengar and his contributions to the understanding of asana, Satyananda who innovated Yoga Nidra and many more. Also modern teachers like Gregor Maehle or Danilo Hernández, who keep the authentic spirit alive.
The first of all inspirations being cosmic intelligence, which is alive and unique in your heart too.
Philosophy, Meditation & Anatomy
Marta brings together elements derived from 20 years of experience as a practitioner, student and trainer in Yoga/Meditation. Her approach is comprehensive, inclusive and non-dogmatic. She links historical contemplative traditions with contemporary approaches.
On the physical level, she is inspired by the scientific study of Anatomy and Biomechanics and the somatic approach.
She has been co-director of “Aushadhi Integral Yoga Teaching” for 11 years. Marta offers workshops and presentations, training courses and retreats.
As a Teacher Trainer she teaches "Fundamental ethical, philosophical and mystical principles of Yoga" at the Professional Qualification Course for Yoga Instructors at the University of Madrid and "Yoga Philosophy and Meditation Pedagogy" in the Professional Qualification Course for Yoga Instructors Yogaia.
Marta is a PhD student in the Religious Sciences Doctoral Program at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she researches Yoga, Tantra, Vedanta, Buddhism and their relationships with Art, Mythology and Iconography.
Asana, Pedagogy & Lead Trainer
I have grown up in the world of Yoga and spirituality, as my parents have also been Yoga teachers. But it took me many years to realize that this was also my personal path.
I have been teaching and practicing Yoga since almost 20 years, during which my curiosity has led me to study different Yoga styles like Iyengar, Anusara, Ashtanga or Kundalini Yoga. I have found my own way of understanding and integrating this knowledge in an integrative Hatha Yoga Praxis. Gregor Maehle is a big inspiration for me nowadays.
In 2013 I created the Yogaia Teacher training School on the Canary Islands, and have been leading its teacher trainings since then.
Since 2019 I started studying psychology as well as Gestalt therapy, and have been integrating this knowledge since then in my classes and group work.
During this course I'm going to be your lead trainer, asana and pedagogy teacher. I'll accompany you every step of the way.
This course will be held at ANATOT, a beautiful retreat center, which has been organizing events for personal growth for the last 40 years.
It is placed in the northern part of the island, belonging to the municipality of the town Arucas.
The retreat center has lots of land where you can meditate, walk or just enjoy. It's in the middle of a landscape of banana plantations.
Coast of Gran Canaria
At 10min drive you can visit the coast with many beaches, from sand beaches to natural stone pools. Also 10min drive from here there is the town Arucas, where you can find all the shops and basics.
20min from here is Las Palmas, the capital city, with cultural sites, surfing and shopping possibilities.
Note that you will need a car, taxi or Bus to move around.
We can put you in touch with other students if you wish to share a car rental. There will be an instructor with a car at sight for emergencies and helping out with basic needs.
Vegetarian, homemade, delicious
We offer homemade ovo-lacto-vegetarian dishes.
There will be a very light self catered breakfast with fruit and tea, to be comfortable for our practice at 9am. Lunch and dinner are abundant 3 course meals and one of the highlights of the retreat.
Let us know if you have any special dietary needs or allergies. A supplement might be charged if your food requires separate preparation.
Gran Canaria is one of the 7 Canary Islands which lie in the Atlantic Ocean not far from the african coast. The Canary Islands belong to Spain, so spanish is the main language spoken.
Every island has its particular landscape, and Gran Canary can offer a big variety of them. From the dunes in Maspalomas, where you can get the feeling of a real dessert, to forests and mountains. The climate is just as big in variety, from hot dry beaches to misty green forests. In the mountains it could even happen to snow during a cold winter.
If you want to get the most out of your trip, we recommend you to rent a car, and use your free days to discover the island.

I have some doubts and would like to contact
Thank you Chantal for joining me on the path to self-discovery. Your active listening and guidance encouraged me to embark on an authentic journey full of enriching experiences. At 50 years old I feel full of new hopes and endless learnings to share.
Personally, my experience during the training at Yogaia with Chantal and her cast of professionals in each subject was and is today self-knowledge and growth, they give you tools that you connect with a transformation of yourself, you change your way of understanding life, you begin to be more present from a more conscious approach to your mind and your body. She is an incredible guide in all the nuances of Yoga, she personally inspires me with truth, knowledge, closeness, serenity, observation and values.
Very grateful for all those moments with Chantal. I don't know how he made us open up, express thoughts, cry, laugh and many other things. But the most important thing for me was how it made us know each other better and thus be a more united group, like a family.
Chantal gets from you, what you thought you would never achieve or you yourself didn't even know existed.
A beautiful and very complete training. I was very happy with the team of teachers who make it possible, as well as with the classmates I made there. I learned a lot.
I felt like I needed a change in my life, and thanks to this training course I discovered that Yoga is the path I wanted to follow.
For me, training has been a gift. Just what I needed to continue evolving.
An enriching experience, whether you want to train as a teacher or deepen your practice. To grow as a person. A serious training with wonderful teachers who transmit their wisdom from the heart and love for Yoga. Hugely grateful.
